The Holy House is one of the most important sites of Marian devotion and one of the most important and most visited Marian shrines of the Catholic Church. It consists of three walls, which, according to ancient and authoritative tradition, are the part in front of the Grotto of Nazareth, where the Blessed Virgin Mary was born, lived, and received the Annunciation. Pious tradition holds that the angels were responsible for the transfer of the Holy House from Nazareth to Loreto.
