On October 30, 130 AD, Antinous sacrificed himself in the waters of the Nile to bring good fortune to his beloved, Emperor Hadrian. ānti pays homage to this mythical connection with a botanical bouquet of Mediterranean plants, combining the spice of cumin, the serenity of sage, and the sensuality of sea-salted skin.
Clary sage and true sage scatter prayers written on papyrus; white pepper and cumin ignite fires on the starry banks. In the background, wheat, vetiver, and sandalwood erect altars of golden grains – love letters carved into the stone of temples.
"It took me a while to figure out how to structure this extraordinary fragrance. I had my accord, which combined three sage extracts with various skin-like spices, but they needed to be brought together in a logical and harmonious way. I tried numerous structures, and it was only in a woody-musky base that the entire formula made sense. While spices naturally pair well with wood, the combination of vetiver, sandalwood, and warm musk notes brought out the intimate and animalic facets of the sage. I also greatly enjoyed working with wheat absolute, a raw material I rarely use. It gives the fragrance a tactile dimension and enhances the sensual aspects of the notes that linger on the skin." – Marc Antoine Corticchiato
