Italian Citrus

An invigorating cologne made from citrus peels from the Italian coast - chinotto, blood orange, cold-pressed lemon, and green mandarin with ambrette seeds and clean musk.

There are many variations of cologne. The "original" recipes from Italy, France, Germany, and Hungary typically use citrus fruits (lemon, bergamot, etc.), herbs (lavender, rosemary), and neroli (orange blossom distillate). The scent is highly recognizable.

Most classic colognes are very pleasing. Wearable every day for that "freshly showered" feeling. While their strength varies, they usually don't last long. "Eau de Cologne" technically refers to a small percentage of perfume oil in the final product. They aren't traditionally designed to last.

Our Italian Citrus varies the formula in a few ways to create a fresh citrus fragrance where the citrus actually lingers until the drydown. For one thing, the citrus palette is broad. We use five different citrus fruits from Italy's coastal region in specific ratios to create a fresh opening. There's the most Italian of all fruits—bergamot, brightened by the even fresher, yellow Amalfi lemon; the exquisite oceanic red mandarin distillate (with its peculiar shell note); the sweet red blood orange; and the peel of the bitter chinotto orange. This is the accord I want to carry through to the drydown. Instead of the herbs of classic colognes, we use violet ionone to bring the sweetness all the way through. In the base, the liquid crystal scent of copaiba balsam, a white resin from South America, blends with frankincense absolute and oakmoss, creating a citrus aftertaste. Copaiba for the fresh, peppery bergamot, frankincense for the orange and lemon notes, and oakmoss for the green notes. Overall, Italian Citrus is lush and persistent.

The Italian coast is special not only for its citrus fruits. It's a carefree place where the landscape fills all who see it with humility.
