Inspired by the fans in the sacristy of Milan Cathedral.
It is called "aquilonare," from the late Latin aquilonaris, meaning north. It is the former sacristy of the Milan Cathedral, the first core of the cathedral, built starting in 1386, in the middle of a city center crowded with buildings. It is the first place to be built after the laying of the cathedral's foundation stone. The sacristy is rich not only in precious marble, sculptures, and frescoes, but also in furniture and fans, and is still used by priests today for their vestments before sacred rites.
