The Machine Room
Behind the tribune, behind the keys, there's a room that rarely comes into view: the machine room. The light is harsh and functional; the surfaces show signs of wear, the air has a constantly consistent warmth. The smell of this room is reminiscent of metal, of heated dust, and of oil slowly flowing between the gears, keeping the bellows, the organ's "lungs," under tension.
Before the sonic sublimity, before the solemnity that fills the vaults, there is a complex system of levers, turbines, and air ducts that create pressure and convert energy into sound. Musical ecstasy springs from this complex machine.
When the organ plays in the church, the sound appears pure and transcendent, while here, among the motors, one understands the origin of this purity. The machines work incessantly, producing a deep, constant hum that forms the silent foundation of harmony. The music that rises to the vaults has its roots in this physicality, in this forced breath that flows through metal and wood.
The organ reveals itself in its dual nature: as a complex machine and as a voice capable of elevation. In this convergence, a central truth of Filippo's artistic quest manifests itself: the spirit takes shape through matter.
The machine room becomes a metaphor for the embodiment of sound.
