I leave behind what remains...
Reliquia is derived from the Latin verb relinquo, which means “I leave behind.”
The Latin term reliquiae and the Greek term λείψανα generally mean “that which remains,” referring to the human body or a part of it.
In the Christian context, this word refers to a part of the body or an object that belonged to Christ, the Virgin Mary or the mortal remains of those recognized as martyrs and saints, and more generally to those objects that were connected with their person.

The new fragrance by Filippo Sorcinelli, AFTER PAYING HOMAGE TO MARIO GIACOMELLI WITH “IO NON HO MANI CHE MI ACCAREZZINO IL VOLTO” (I HAVE NO HANDS TO CARESS MY FACE), RETURNS TO SENIGALLIA to describe a simply extraordinary place, rich in history and works of art, but also an important repository of important relics of the Passion of Christ: THE CHIESA DELLA CROCE, considered one of the jewels of Italian Baroque.
This oratorio, dating from 1608, was built at the request of the Confraternita del Sacramento e della Croce, which is still active today and of which Filippo is the organist and artistic director.

RELIQVIA tells of the walls covered in gilded wood, decorated with fine carvings and reliefs, of the incense-covered steps leading to the great high altar, which looks like a golden embroidery and houses the statue of the dead Christ, a 17th-century wooden work of art that can be seen only once a year.
But it also aims to synaesthetically frame Federico Barocci's altarpiece, The Entombment of Jesus, one of the Urbino painter's most beautiful works from 1582, for which he also designed the frame.

RELIQVIA is thus a place of encounter, to evoke memories, to recall the passing of time that becomes celebratory and authentic gold, a message of transience and imperishability.

RELIQVIA is the tangible trace, the final trace to describe a life that is beyond us, different and miraculous. It is the always-locked cabinet, the precious repository of holy people, which helps us understand that time is precious and that it risks passing without us leaving a definite mark on life. RELIQVIA is the nail of the Passion, incense layered and turbid through the solemn and holy years. There is nothing sacred unless the people of the sacred recognize it as such and glorify it in consummate rituals. RELIQVIA is the perfect space of the sacred. To touch the relics, to touch anything that has come into contact with them, is a grace and a guarantee: this is why the Romans tore the veils that had covered the holy martyrs and in which the bodies of the popes were wrapped. It is for this very reason that the popes were wrapped in these very veils. In the presence of the relics, madmen are healed, possessed and insane people are freed, the blind regain their sight, the lame begin to walk again...
