The Mariner's Rhyme
Parfum extract
Chords: Aquatic Chypre
Mood: Mysterious, dramatic and contemplative
This fragrance captures the essence of a sailor navigating stormy seas. It has a metallic sharpness reminiscent of a razor blade, an ozonic note reminiscent of cold squalls, and a dark, mysterious depth reminiscent of the ocean's abyss. Although fresher and more transparent than other fragrances in the collection, the unmistakable DNA of my dramatic character and the animalistic iris strongly influence this unique creation.
The fragrance has a contemplative character; it is fresh, yet complex and expressive.
How The Mariner's Rhyme came about:
For lovers of my creations, the animalic-powdery theme so important to me returns, albeit in a more subtle way. The animalic note in this composition is gray amber. The fragrance is also characterized by a transparency and luminosity that distinguishes it from my previous creations.
My relationship with the sea is conveyed by some references that are dear to me: the sacred sense of drama in “The Rime of the Ancient Mariner” by ST Coleridge, the epic and theatrical adaptation by Iron Maiden, but above all the mysterious, evocative, contemplative, experimental and immersive instrumental song “Sailor's Tale” from the album “Islands” by King Crimson.
It's a fresh and transparent unisex fragrance on the one hand, and dense and structured on the other. The citrusy and ozonic opening has a lively and modern character, further enhanced by the sharp note of aldehydes. We're at sea, but in the background, a hint of orange blossom wafts over from the mainland.
The salty ambergris and metallic aldehyde combined with oakmoss evoke the taste of oyster shells and the shadowy depths of the sea.
The transparency of the ozonic accord transforms into an opaque and dense accord thanks to iris, which takes on an almost sacred and mystical character thanks to elemi and frankincense.
