Dreams
Perfume
Where am I? Am I still dreaming or is this reality?
Japan
Sogni tells of that moment between dream and reality, that moment in which our mind and heart are still in a distant place and we feel lost, confused, floating...
With Sogni, I shared my love for Japan, the memories of past travels, my passion for Kawabata's literature, Kurosawa's films, and bonsai.
I tried to tell a new story with a woody and warm scent, my Japanese dream.
The perfect wood
Long ago, I dreamed of creating a perfect woody perfume in which different woods would narrate time and the course of life itself—another challenge, a perfume that would be unique, exciting, and captivating. Sogni is the realization of my wish, an immediate experience, incredibly close to reality and the nature of things. Aesthetic devotion to nature.
The rice
The opening of Sogni consists of tatami (rice straw) and Japanese pine needles. We are in an old ryokan in Kyoto, and the rain has stopped. A warm bowl of rice sits beside us, reminding us of the simplicity of life, of its purity. Our attention is drawn to the green, clear, and transparent note of a bamboo forest, while the floral note of the peony is a moving haiku. A moment that heralds the awakening of our soul from its dream.
Finally, the dawn lights envelop the woody notes of sandalwood, cedar, and incense, the signature accord of the Kodo ritual. A journey into the beauty of Japanese harmony.
